27 weeks

Blood pressure: Excellent
Weight: 133lbs

When I get to Geri's office, I usually weigh myself . I weighed myself this time and found that I was 138lbs. I went into shock. How could I have gained so much weight? My clothes still feel the same. Anyways, I went and reported to Geri my weight gain, and she was very pleased about it. I showed Geri our ultra sound pictures, and told her that it was a girl. We went into the examination room and Geri measured my fundus, and checked the position of our baby. Geri found her head right away, and then found her hips. She laughed and told us that our daughter had a bubble butt, and that she was a renaissance girl. She had Tim feel our baby's hips which he found very amusing, but it hurt a little for me. Everything is going fine, and I'm becoming more and more excited. After our meeting, I exclaimed to Tim how much weight I gained. He said we should go weigh myself again, and I found that the weighing machine was five pounds off. I was so unhappy, but it did make more sense that I had not gained that much weight. Our next meeting is January 7, 2008.

It is getting harder to teach. The energy that I had before is slowly vanishing, and I feel like I'm working too much. It takes a lot of patience which I seem to be loosing. The good thing is that I'm going to Wisconsin in a couple of weeks. I really can't wait! I need a break. I haven't had a break since May. I really don't know how I am still running.

It's A Girl

Here she is....my little yoga daughter. Going to the ultrasound was the most thrilling moment of my life. I have never been so excited before; even Santa can't beat this type of suspense. The moment the radiologist put her scanner on my belly, Tim and I could see her immediatley. It didn't even matter that she was black and white or that we could see different depths of her body; for me, it was as if she was in my arms. The radiologist checked out all of her vital organs and measured her bones. It was incredible to see all four chambers of her heart beating, and I enjoyed looking at her tiny little brain which looked so fully formed. It was also breathtaking to see her spinal chord with all of her vertebrae. It really is truly amazing that I can make this little human being inside of me. Tim is slightly jealous. The radiologist was so friendly and professional. She spent about 20 minutes measuring my baby, but I wish it was longer. I wish I had an ultra sound machine to look at her everyday. Maybe sometime in the distant future they will have that type of technology. When our little bun did the above yoga move, even the radiologist laughed at her; it was so funny. She is already very cramped looking, and I just can't wait to meet her now. She is enjoying herself lately. I imagine all the food we had for thanksgiving has given her a growth spurt.

20 Weeks! Half Way There!

This is just a quicky until I have time this weekend to write what's been happening lately which seems like a lot. Just in these past two weeks, I've gotten a lot bigger!
------------------------------------------------

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. She's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom, and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, we use measurements taken from the top of the baby's head to her bottom — known as the "crown to rump" measurement. After that, we use measurements from head to toe. This is because a baby's legs are curled up against her torso during the first half of pregnancy and are very hard to measure.)

A greasy white substance called vernix caseosa coats her entire body to protect her skin during its long submersion in amniotic fluid. (This slick coating also eases the journey down the birth canal.)

Your baby is swallowing more, which is good practice for her digestive system. She's also producing meconium, a black, sticky substance that's the result of cell loss, digestive secretion, and swallowed amniotic fluid. This meconium will accumulate in her bowels, and you'll see it in her first messy diaper (although a few babies pass it in utero or during delivery).
