Promotion!

Friday finished off the summer session at ELS. I was so happy to be done with classes. This past session was very difficult for me. I had some students with some terrible attitude problems which makes teaching so difficult. I was also teaching really sweet teenagers, but they had extremely short attention spans. On top of all that, I had terrible fatigue, nausea, and lack of appetite. I really thought at one point that I would not make it. Well, I did. Here is a photo of my favorite class. These students were such a joy to teach. Really sweet!
Friday I got a call from my boss and he wants to promote me to full time permanent teacher! I will get benefits and a pay raise. I'm so happy about that. I haven't told my boss that I am pregnant yet, and I will wait until the end of this session to tell him. I will be having the baby at a slow period of the school year, so it will not be a problem. Tim and I celebrated Friday by going to a sushi place (my favorite food). I got the fried calamari rolls, and Tim made me jealous by eating the raw fish rolls, and some sashimi. Later that night we went to see "Knocked Up". It was our second time watching that movie, and we enjoyed it just as much the second time. The movie is a romantic comedy about a woman who accidentally gets knocked up by a one night stand. It' s very funny to our generation.

Saturday was great. Our friend Kristina got back from Africa, so we decided to spend the day with her and some other close friends. We went out to eat at a Burmese restaurant. My appetite these past two days has been improving, but I could still only eat a little bit of food. Anyways while we were waiting for our food. Martin asked Tim what was new? Then I said "yes, we have some big news for you!" Martin yelled "you're pregnant!" Then everyone started to laugh as if it was a big joke. Then Tim and I seriously said, "no it's true". My friends then started squealing and laughing, and got extremely excited. They are happy because they are going to be little Aunties. I'm really starting to like telling people. It's really fun. So, Kristina has a bunch of baby stuff that her brother no longer has that we can use, so we are so grateful for that. Tim and I went to Babies n' Us and we almost pucked over all the expensive frilly plastic stuff, so we quickly left the store. After eating we went for Ice-cream at this great little ice-cream place called "ici". Delicious! We showed our friends our new house which they loved. Tim and I even visited the back yard where the chickens and Geese are kept. There is also a goat back there! Kristina brought back a painting for Tim and I of a Masai family with babies, so we went to go get that stretched, but the store was closed. We finished off the night by going to see a movie at Emeryville called "Super Bad" a teenage comedy. It was a great day. We really missed our friend while she was in Tanzania, and we're glad she's back.
